Wham! Bam! Jam! returned...

This evening welcomed the first Wham! Bam! Jam! of the year at Cabin 164.

As always, we had a wide range of styles, starting with a song sung in Urdu by Irfan (worker at Cabin 164) and an emotional poem by one of the regulars about the Divine. This was followed by some songs by Yusuf Rowland (ME!) and Sam Harding from the band, Haiku. Then we witnessed some awesome jamming and another amazing performance by the singer songwriter, Keegan McCallum.

At this point everyone turned up (!) and we were treated to the hilarious comedy of Mark Ross and some brilliant poetry including an improvised piece by Anzir Boodoo and some free style story telling by Lewis Peters with the backing of the members of Haiku.

All-in-all it was a great event with some stunning performances.

Join us for our next session 29th January at Cabin 164!

All musicians, performers, singers, MCs, poets, comedians please come along... no appointment needed. Just turn up and find one of the Cabin staff or the wbj organisers.

First night success!

ITS OFFICIAL! Wham! Bam! Jam! is now up and running.

Last night we held the first ever Wham! Bam! Jam! session at Cabin164. We had an amazingly talented and diverse line-up, we had songs in English, Arabic, Hindi and Urdu, as well as the band HAIKU (who I can't wait to hear again next time - pictured third photo down) and the singer/guitarist/harmonica virtuoso Keegan (first photo), who played one of my all time favourite songs "Once I was" by Tim Buckley. We also had
a comedian and some poetry by Anzir Boodoo, who later got up and did some improv with members from Haiku and the Moroccan singer Ibrahim Alami (fourth photo).

My personal highlight was the first act (who also sang the very last song). Nelz (second photo below) had never sung with live musicians before, but after her first stint which included an acapella version of Alicia Keys' song "
Girl On Fire", some of the musicians went to one side with her to quickly learn a song with her. The resulting performance blew us all away. That is what Wham! Bam! Jam! is all about. Great music, spontaneous creativity and having a great time.

If you are interested in coming and showcasing your talent, or if you are a fan of spontaneous entertainment, please come down at the next session on Wednesday 18th December @7:30pm. All Welcome!
